Estimating Bid Lifecycle

At Power Design, the Estimating team evaluates incoming invitations to bid (ITBs) to identify the right project opportunities. They develop comprehensive, customer-focused proposals based on detailed drawings and specifications, collaborating closely with internal teams to build accurate and competitive pricing. Their expertise helps position projects for success from the very beginning.

This initial phase of the bid lifecycle is where the team reviews incoming invitations to bid and evaluates whether the opportunity aligns with company goals, capacity, and risk profile.
In this phase, project requirements are reviewed in detail to fully understand the scope outlined in the drawings and specifications. Pricing is developed and a comprehensive proposal is assembled to meet customer expectations and position the project competitively.
During this phase, scope-specific responsibilities are distributed to internal teams (PDR, VDC, Systems, etc.) to develop detailed pricing for their respective areas. This collaboration ensures all components of the project are accurately scoped and accounted for in the overall bid.
This phase involves refining the original bid based on customer feedback and updated project information. Adjustments are made to scope, pricing, and strategy to remain competitive and aligned with evolving project expectations.
Full takeoffs are completed to tighten up quantities and pricing, helping ensure the final number is as accurate and complete as possible.
This is when the project is officially awarded and the win is shared across the company. It marks the transition from bidding to execution, ensuring all teams are aligned and ready to move forward.
