The ABC Apprenticeship Program aims to develop a safe, skilled, and productive construction workforce through a nationally recognized earn-while-you-learn model. Its goal is to equip apprentices with industry-validated competencies and credentials that prepare them for journey-level careers and long-term leadership in the trades.

PREREQUISITES

Key Outcomes

  • Provide a registered earn-while-you-learn pathway combining classroom instruction and paid on-the-job training.

  • Build competency-based skills in technical craft areas, safety, and productivity using the NCCER curriculum.

  • Prepare participants for journey-level recognition and long-term leadership within the construction industry.

Program Format

  • Delivery: In-person and virtual

  • Schedule: On-the-job training, virtual night classes 2 nights per week

  • Interactive Components: Yearly technical lab session on the GRID

  • Apprentices are expected to obtain their tradesman or journeyman license within 3 months of graduating their respective program.

Enrollment

Enrollment processes and eligibility vary by local chapter, but is open to individuals entering a construction trade through employer sponsorship with an ABC chapter. Employment is managed directly through Learning and Development's Apprentice & Trade Advocacy team. The process includes a performance review, math & comprehension assessment, and an interview.
